Procedures for Site Inductions

Induction of new employees on a building site is vital for the health and safety of the site, the “old days” of putting on a 10 minute video and then giving some basic site information have ceased, now the emphasis is on giving new employees sufficient information and guidance so they can work safely by following the site safety procedures.

The Procedures for Site Inductions

  • All new employees, contractors, and others will have an induction before commencing any duties with the company.
  1. It is the responsibility of the supervisor of the new employee or contractor, or the person the visitor is with, to ensure induction has taken place.
  2. Induction will only be performed by employees of the company deemed competent to do so by the managing director.
  3. A handbook containing the same information as that given at induction will be provided to all at the end of their induction session.
  4. A register of all that have attended induction, and those who receive a copy of the induction handbook, will be signed by the inductee at the end of the induction. The register will be maintained by the Human Resources Department.
